As a kid, Mikolaj Rogowski recalls sitting through painfully long slideshows of photos organized by his Polish grandfather, Czeslaw Mozejko. The images had little impact on him at the time, but in 2012 Rogowski decided to revisit the work. Amazed at what he found, he has organized thousands of film positives taken by his grandfather in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, and put together a 12-piece photo narrative (all originals) that he calls Granddad’s Archive. The collection is authentic, personal, nostalgic—intimate moments shared between family members. For Rogowski, one of the most fulfilling parts of the project has been talks with his grandfather about his experience in communist Poland and what shaped him as a photographer, even though he denies being one.
