NYC-based photographer Natan Dvir, with his series Coming Soon, has captured a bizarre interplay between Godzilla-sized models and regular-sized people, going about their normal daily routines. The outsize advertisements are used to block construction sites from view at street level and the resulting cityscapes, overpopulating the streets with advertising, creates an at-times riotously colorful backdrop that makes daily life look like the sets of commercials. Dvir, who I spoke with at Fotofest Houston in March, said it sometimes takes just a minute until the perfect interaction between passers-by and advertising happens, while other times he waits for hours until the right visual play arises.

Images from Coming Soon are on view through June 15, 2014, in a group show at the Center for Photography at Woodstock, in New York.
