Since ancient times, redheads have elicited polarizing emotions, being both exalted and vilified through centuries of folklore and mythology. Homer’s heroic Achilles is rumored to have had red hair, as was King David of the Bible’s old Testament, but along with these blessed figures, so too have the traitorous Judas Iscariot and the repentant Mary Magdalene been adorned with flaming locks. The mythos and intrigue surrounding the redhead extends well into modern culture, with the widely circulated if false rumor that redheads are an endangered species whose recessive gene will ultimately disappear from the human genome. More than any other locks, red tresses continue to beguile and enchant, and for our next group show, we want to see your red-headed muses.

Our judge for this group show will be Keren Sachs, Director of Content Development for Offset, a new collection of high-end stock photography and illustration from artist around the globe. Prior to joining Offset, Sachs worked as a Director of Photography at Martha Stuart Living, Art Director at Corbis and Wall Street Journal, Photo Editor at National Geographic Society, and Creative Manager at Williams-Sonoma.
