Exotic dreamlands are alive and well along the suburban roadside in After Party. Bewitched by the flamboyant combination of color and kitsch , photographer Francois Prost has been cataloging nightclubs in rural areas of France and Belgium for 3 years. It is the unabashed falseness of the exteriors (and presumably interiors) that make each outlandish structure so surreal. This particular discothèque is Prost’s favorite. The La Fiesta club was hidden away in a small industrial zone, its red plastic palm trees, flamboyant signage and dusty red carpet captivating the photographer’s attention. In a place that holds such promise in our youth, After Party gazes amused at the now not-so-alluring club scene in the bright light of day.
