A hundred years ago, one in ten citizens of the world lived in an urban area; last year, that percentage rose to 54%, meaning that more than 3.5 billion people around the globe are living in cities. That number is predicted to increase steadily over the next fifteen years, until 2030, when the World Heath Organization predicts somewhere in the ballpark of 78.5% of the world will be making homes in urban environments. As that statistic rises, metropolitan life—the good and the bad—is becoming not a privilege or a curse but simply the norm. For our latest group show, we’re looking for your photographs of urban living.

This group show will be curated by Feature Shoot Editor-in-Chief and Founder, Alison Zavos. The top three winners will receive a free one-year subscription to Squarespace, the intuitive website publishing platform that makes it simple for photographers to build creative and professional sites with their combo of award-winning designs, hosting, domains, and commerce. Selected photos will run on the Feature Shoot website and be promoted through our social media channels. Copyright remains with the photographer.

To submit, email up to five images (620 pixels wide on the shortest side, saved for web, no borders or watermarks) titled with your name and the number of the image (ex: yourname_01.jpg) to fsgroupshow (at) gmail (dot) com with “Urban Living” in the subject line. Please include your full name, website and image captions within the body of the email.

You may also submit via Instagram by posting your images using the hashtag #urbanlivingfs.

Deadline for submissions is August 29, 2015.

Squarespace is a Feature Shoot sponsor.
