Universal Studios, Pedestrian Walks & Amusement Rides. Orlando, Florida

There is nothing quite like the photography of Alex S. MacLean. Though aerial photographs are frequently used for commercial purposes, MacLean’s keen artistic vision transforms the world into a colorful spectacle of sprawling patterns and textures. Shot from 1,000-2,000 feet up in a fuel-efficient carbon-fibre airplane which he flies himself, MacLean has captured a breathtaking view of the earth from New York to Madagascar. Here we are allowed to peer down into Universal Studies, the amusement rides becoming a miniature wonderland of candy – colored pinpricks and swirling shapes. Whether photographing sweeping farmlands or congested urban areas, MacLean’s images are a constant reminder of how small we truly are, but also the irrevocable impact we have on the landscape of our planet.
