Vienna-based photographer Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek takes us inside the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant—Austria’s first nuclear plant to be built—in his series Zwentendorf. Built in the early 1970s

, the plant never made it into operation after a referendum was passed in 1978 striking it down, along with future plans to build five more. A hefty expense, the Zwentendorf plant cost almost a billion Euros to construct. It is now used as a training and research site. Gebhart de Koekkoek gained access through a client of his who is one of the power operators—here he captures interiors that read like movie sets from decades past.
