For our latest group show, we invited you to submit your photographs of redheads. Judged by Keren Sachs, Director of Content Development for Offset, a new collection of high-end stock photography and illustration from artists around the globe, the images selected for this collection capture the elusive and indefinable beauty of auburn hair. Since the days of Medieval Europe, redheads in art have walked a murky line between the human realm and the divine. Where red hair was once perceived as an unerasable mark of black magic and vampirism, throughout history, it has also been a key trait of several deities, like Botticelli’s Venus and the angels of Titian. While children with red hair might be taunted on the schoolyard, we grow up to covet red locks and to be transfixed eternally by those who bear them.

Congratulations to winning photographer Julie de Waroquier, who will receive a GoPro Hero4 Black, and to runners up Masha Svyatogor and Michelle Marshall. All submitting photographers were considered to join Offset.

Call for Submissions: Photos of Babies

We’ve all been babies at one point, and yet there’s something about them—their smallness, their roundness, their curiosity about the world around them—that continues to fascinate us well into adulthood. As a subject, babies have the power to turn almost anyone into a photographer, even if it’s just for the purposes of a family scrapbook. Babies are both universal and otherworldly, familiar and mysterious, making them a treasure trove of material for the amateur and professional photographer alike. Now, we’re looking for your photographs of babies.

Our judge for this group show will be Keren Sachs, Director of Content Development for Offset, a new collection of high-end stock photography and illustration from artist around the globe. Prior to joining Offset, Sachs worked as a Director of Photography at Martha Stuart Living, Art Director at Corbis and Wall Street Journal, Photo Editor at National Geographic Society, and Creative Manager at Williams-Sonoma.

The winning photographer will receive a GoPro Hero4 Black. All submitting photographers will be considered to join Offset’s curated collection of award-winning and high end photography. Selected photos will run on the Feature Shoot website and be promoted through our social media channels. Copyright remains with the photographer.

To submit, email up to five images (620 pixels wide on the shortest side, saved for web, no borders or watermarks) titled with your name and the number of the image (ex: yourname_01.jpg) to fsgroupshow (at) gmail (dot) com with “Babies” in the subject line. Please include your full name, website and image captions detailing the titles/locations of the photographs within the body of the email.

The deadline for submissions is February 13, 2015.

Since Feature Shoot started working with Offset six months ago, we’ve had a lot of inquires from photographers who are curious about selling their work through the agency. We thought it was a good time to speak with Keren Sachs, Director, Content Development in order to gain some insight into their process, what types of images (and photographers) they are looking for, and what images are most likely to sell well.
