Caren Alpert is a food photographer based in San Francisco. Her commercial work stems from editorial jobs, catalog, cookbooks, advertising and agency work. For the last 18 months she’s been shooting food with an electron microscope. Of this work she writes, ‘Because I’m a science geek at heart, it’s not such a far leap to explore food in a way that no one else has. It’s been a way to combine my three favorite topics: food, technology and photography. At a time when so many people are hyper-obsessed about where their food is grown and its health and environmental impact, this is a particularly relevant subject’.
