Zhang Xiao is a freelance photographer living and working in Chongqing, China. His photographs, with their vignetting and muted colors, help document a Chinese culture in the midst of societal change. Contrasting the traditional lives of older generations with the youth of today, Xiao’s “They” series has managed to remain free of nostalgic reference and politicization in it’s depictions of everyday life in China. Zhang has participated in several International photography festivals and has shown his work at the GIM Gallery in Bremen, Germany.
